Papa Cisse – One Hit Wonder

Papa Cisse – One Hit Wonder

Papa Cisse produced another outstanding display last night with his 2 goal brace against Chelsea. His second strike has made the headlines today but after speaking with football fans about the goal, it seems that it has been considered by some as a fluke or One Hit Wonder. Is this really the case?

Surely not?

For those who have watched the Senegal international play since his Premier League arrival in January, this spectacular strike came as no surprise. His debut goal for Newcastle against Aston Villa showed the technique, poise and plain audacity that characterise him as a striker.

Against the Champions League finalists, Cisse and Newcastle showed their quality. The first goal was a classy right-footed strike but the pure technical brilliance to score the second, from a seemingly impossible position, was a moment for fans to relish. Of course, with a super strike like this one, everything must come together perfectly. If not, the ball will certainly end up in row Z, as happens so often.

It was pure genius, from a player that is arguably the signing of the season and will perhaps help the surprise package of the 2011-12 season, Newcastle, to a place in the top four.

Of course it was meant, there was nothing else on and he hits it with the outside of his foot so it is always going to go in that direction. Ok most of them will go over or straight into the keepers hands but he caught it perfectly and its went in and if you are saying that’s a fluke then every shot that has been hit perfectly must be too

I absolutely agree with you. I could not believe that the people I had spoken to were trying to argue that it was anything but a great goal.
